Meet neighbours through Royal Wedding street party

Good Morning
Welcome to the Seaforth Avenue street party on the 29th April 2011

Whether or not you are a royal fan, the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton on 29th April 2011 will be a great chance or excuse to meet with our neighbours into our traffic free street and let the kids play freely for a change.

It's sugested between 2-6pm for the road closure and your sugestions are the most we need to make it fun for everyone.

Following consulatations last week with a group of residents and unanimous postive response I requested permission from the council for a street closure of seaforth avenue between West Barnes Lane and Douglas Avenuebetween 2pm and 6pm.

Can you confirm which end of Seaforth Avenue will be closed if permission is granted - is it Seaforth Stores end?

when will you know if permission is granted?

The council have to contact the emergency services for approval. we will be informed once that has come through. The road will be closed between west barnes lane and Douglas avenue, numbers 1 to approx 85.

Could you please confirm which end of Seaforth is planned to be closed,as West Barnes Lane runs both ends of Seaforth..Also,will street closure defiantly be restricted to stated times, with no overrun on time?
thanks

If successful the car free zone will only be for a limited period between 2pm and 6pm so can park your car in the street after 6pm.

Sorry but which end of Seaforth is proposed to be closed

Thanks Ben
We have just come back from Wales and everything is on target and we have received the permission for road closure from 2-6 pm on Friday. So, I request the car owners to make the space available for lots of fun! :)

Hi
Could you please explain where car owners will be expected to park their vehicles on the day.To clear the road would involve moving an enormous amount of cars/vans and motor bikes!!!!!!!!!!.

Our Motorbike can be parked off road during that time but must be able to leave Seaforth Ave by 6.15 as my H has to get to work . I think this is a lovely idea , but my OH who works nights will be hoping to be sleeping during these hours & is worried about the noise level .

Hello

We proposed to have a car free street only from no.1 till no.85 aprox (until Douglas Ave) not the whole street. So, I hope rest of us can park up on West Barns lane including me and my husband. It will only from 2-6pm so 6:15pm should not be any problem. :)
In the end the whole point is for everybody to enjoy and have a nice afternoon.

We are not proposing for a music compition or activities with music so I hope this will not effect this sleep. Plus if we know where you are at we can request people not to be loud.

It's our street party and it's our neighbours. So don't worry we can arrange it. :)

Sorry! I was asking about the permission as well and have just read that you have received it so will let you know asap what we can do. If everyone does just a little, it should be great. Good on you!

what about people who want to take part and are not living in 1 - 85 Seaforth - can we still help out?

sibgha salim said...

Off course! Street party is for all 250 houses but because it's first time in Seaforth Ave, we didn't know what the sitution will be for road closer and permissions but hopefully if it's successful this time we can request for whole street.

Please I need your help!!!:)

Hi there

Just to say thanks very much for organising this. We came along for the last couple of hours and really enjoyed ourselves (sorry we didn't get very involved with the preparations as we were a bit preoccupied with 5 day old Sam - who I think was the youngest party goer!). Would love a similar event next year for the Queen's Jubilee.

Thanks again

I throughly enjoyed it myself and turnover was alot more than my husband or I expected.
